10 am  Darwin Time

Australia’s UNSW Sunswift Team, in their solar car ‘eVe, left Alice Springs this morning at 7am Darwin time taking the lead for the first time in the third stage of their Cruiser Class 3,000 kilometre journey to Adelaide.

Despite strong cross winds, the car is performing well, travelling around 95 kilometres an hour. They were able to pass the Dutch team Eindhoven in their four seater family car ‘Stella’ who has been a consistent front-runner in the event so far.

The Cruisers are expected to reach Kulgera around 10.45 am this morning and Coober Pedy before 6 pm. Before a team can claim victory, they will be judged in Adelaide on practicality of design, energy efficiency and the number of passengers carried.
