How many times has your team participated in the event?
We have competed in the World Solar Challenge since 2013 - this will make 2017 our third challenge overall and second under the name Clenergy TeamArrow.
What is the design philosophy behind your solar car?
The design goal behind Arrow STF was to be the first Australian road registered Solar Electric Vehicle that was highly desirable to the general population. We also had a dream to be competitive in the 2017 World Solar Challenge - as such we developed the philosophy of the "and":
Unique AND Accessible,
Beautiful AND Built for purpose,
High quality finish AND Simply built,
Ultralight AND safe,
Performance AND Efficiency,
Built for the market AND Competitive for WSC 2017.
What is unique about your solar car?
Arrow STF has been designed with the road registration regulations in mind from the beginning. We have designed and constructed Arrow STF as a "real car" rather than a lightweight cut down version of a car. Also, we intend to make Arrow STF commercially available in a limited run after the World Solar Challenge.
Why does your team value participating in the Bridgestone World Solar Challenge?
Clenergy TeamArrow has a passion for developing young engineering talent. As young engineers we value being able to enhance our practical design and construction skills and form relationships with like-minded engineers, companies and universities from around the world.
What is the one thing your team is looking forward to when you visit Australia?
Whilst we are based in Australia, we enjoy the camping, star gazing and the beautiful scenery that is the Australian Desert - although this is right in our "backyard" not many Australians get to trek through the Outback Desert!
