How many times has your team participated in the event?

This is our first year participating in this event and we are looking forward to joining alt the other teams in this big adventure.

What is the design philosophy behind your solar car?

When the project started by 5 students in 2013 the main focus was Aerodynamics. Later on we started to focus more on the mechanics, solar area and still aerodynamics. We wanted to ensure that the car is safe and can withstand the strong crosswinds, and it is the perfect first car for further development and optimization.

What is unique about your solar car?

The uniqueness of our car can be seen in the use of a two motor concept with a center placed driver. Also, complex parts of the car is manufactured with additive manufacturing which is a technique that is becoming more common in the automotive industry. This type of concept and manufacturing is, for us, an aspiration to design the car to resemble the cars on the market today and contribute to the development of future electric vehicles combined with solar energy.

Why does your team value participating in the Bridgestone World Solar Challenge?

It's the perfect challenge for the students and organization of Mälardalen University, A challenge with everything within development, manufacturing and testing under tough circumstances. We are very passionate students that wanna be a part of finding innovative sustainable solutions for future vehicle technology.

What is the one thing your team is looking forward to when you visit Australia?

We are looking forward to meet all the other participating teams and to evaluate our car design in comparison with the designs of the competing cars, as well as completing this long journey together with, hopefully, new found friends.
