How many times has your team participated in the event?

SunSPEC will be participating in the event for the 4th time. We participated in Challenger Class (2013) and Cruiser Class for the subsequent races.

What is the design philosophy behind your solar car?

To build an efficient solar electric vehicle that would perform similar to a commercially available passenger vehicle.

What is unique about your solar car?

The car styling is unique with streamlined design and interior fixtures set up similar to a sports vehicle. The low CG design provides the vehicle with good stability during high speed drives. An in-car entertainment system is installed for the passengers travelling in the vehicle.

Why does your team value participating in the Bridgestone World Solar Challenge?

To learn more about automotive design and development trends and understand more of sustainable/clean energy. In Singapore, we have limited resources on Automotive design and development and the Bridgestone World Solar Challenge gives us a good platform to learn in depth on this field. In addition, the challenge from the race will help us to;

• To nurture and develop the next generation of engineers and talents

• Sustainability – To develop energy efficiency initiatives in caring for the environment

• Innovation – To promote renewables and innovation in technology developments.

What is the one thing your team is looking forward to when you visit Australia?

To meet other teams around the world and to learn from them regarding automotive technologies.
