How many times has your team participated in the event?

Our team have participated in the Bridgestone World Solar Challenge twice. 2019 marks our third time representing Malaysia.

What is the design philosophy behind your solar car?

Our design for the third solar car from UiTM EcoPhoton Solar Racing Team is based on a standard catamaran design, but with a different take on the exterior decals. The team decided to go back to roots with our infamous Malayan Tiger, showing our pride and spirit as Malaysians by displaying the Tiger stripes on our solar car. It also makes the car looks really cool ;)

What is unique about your solar car?

This would be our first take on developing our own solar panels using our own rig. We have been experimenting with different solar encapsulation film and with different cells. This time, we're determined to absorb as much solar irradiation as we can to speed up during the challenge. Don't be fooled by the shape of the car that looks similar to our previous car - we have many systems and mechanical improvements yet to be seen!

Why does your team value participating in the Bridgestone World Solar Challenge?

We are not only looking for the ultimate racing experience, but we are also looking forward to meeting all the brilliant minds working on solar cars from all around the world. The exchange in experience and knowledge is highly valuable and is most anticipated from our team members. Not only that, in our last participation we didn't see any kangaroos crossing the road, so we are definitely keen to see one this year!

What is the one thing your team is looking forward to when you visit Australia?

Different environment, climate and surroundings is one of the many things we want to experience. Based on our previous experience, Aussies are so nice to all visitors from all around the world. We definitely wouldn't want to miss the amazing culture and hospitality in Australia.
