How many times has your team participated in the event?

As a relatively newer team, this will be our third time participating in the Bridgestone World Solar Challenge. Building upon successes in 2017 and 2019, we are proud and excited to be racing our latest solar car which is a product of the dedication and hard work of our team.

What is the design philosophy behind your solar car?

Innovation. Efficiency. Performance.

These form our car’s design philosophy and it’s our obsession with these that pushes us towards greatness.

We’ve set out to build our best car yet, and, through our tenacity, we’re proud to say that we’ve done just that: our latest solar car being more than 30% more aerodynamic than any of our previous cars.

Our car is a harmonious fusion where form meets function in perfect balance. Every aspect is meticulously crafted to minimize drag, enhance stability, and showcase cutting-edge innovations – the culmination of thousands of hours of research and design.

What is unique about your solar car?

Our solar car reinvents the classic trimaran design with unique aerodynamic enhancements —
such as a decoupled fairing – that has allowed us to create an incredibly performant car. This results in a unique design, that combines a more compact battery and integrated occupant cell into an optimized and aerodynamic package. We also take pride in manufacturing many of our car’s components in-house like with our solar cells which we solder and encapsulate ourselves.

Why does your team value participating in the Bridgestone World Solar Challenge?

Participating in the Bridgestone World Solar Challenge is immensely important to our team. It serves as a way for us to apply our strengths and knowledge towards a common goal and unites us as the tight-knit family we are.

Also, it provides a platform for us educate our community on the importance of renewable energy through our regular outreaches to schools, industry partnerships, and appearances at sustainability conferences across Australia.

Through our BWSC participation, we’re proud to champion diversity and inclusivity in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics with a diverse, talented, and passionate team.

What is the one thing your team is looking forward to when you visit Australia?

As the only team from the Australian capital, we’re proud to represent our community and university. Also, we’re eager to explore and experience the outback as well as be together as a team and a family. Finally, we’re excited to meet and get to know the other teams.
