How many times has your team participated in the event?
We have been participating every race since 2001. This means that we have participated in 10 World Solar Challenges already.
What is the design philosophy behind your solar car?
We never rule out options without calculated decisions. At the beginning of every year, we start from an empty page and slowly fill that in with the new design of our car. From the beginning, we do not let us get influenced by opinions from outside. After that, we slowly build up a solar car that is optimized for all the new parameters.
What is unique about your solar car?
The Nuna 12 is a one of a kind solar car. Being one of the few asymmetrical catamarans it is one of the most aerodynamic designs and an eye catcher. Having solar panels that are shingled, a historically thin top-shell and a wrap generated using AI are just a few aspects that make the Nuna so unique.
Why does your team value participating in the Bridgestone World Solar Challenge?
The experience of the BWSC is legendary. First of all, the idea of having such a race in one of the sunniest and most sensational environments is great. Apart from that, the size of the competition really pushes all the teams, which makes it even more exciting. We also appreciate the efforts put into the event by the organization. We cannot imagine all the work put into organizing a cross-country race in a country with this size.
What is the one thing your team is looking forward to when you visit Australia?
We can’t wait to arrive in Australia and see the beautiful nature, meet the other teams and see how they arrive at the starting grid. Lastly, waking up in the outback and seeing the first sunshine falling on our panel is going to be something we will not forget.
