How many times has your team participated in the event?

Established in 1992, the Eclipse ETS team has been on a sun-fuelled journey for over three decades. We first brought our solar expertise to the World Solar Challenge in 2009, and with this being our fifth expedition, we are fully charged and ready to shine again in 2023!

What is the design philosophy behind your solar car?

At Eclipse ETS, we meld ambition with meticulous craftsmanship, pouring our passion into every detail of our solar car. Eclipse XI showcases our commitment to excellence and pioneering sustainable energy technologies. Our design philosophy reflects our aspiration to influence change: we strive to harness our resources to their full potential, focusing always on the horizon of the future. Eclipse XI, with its immaculate construction and innovative design, stands testament to this vision, aiming to inspire the industry towards a norm of renewable energy and sustainable transport.

What is unique about your solar car?

What sets our team apart is our rich diversity in skills and adaptability, embodied in the spirit of the École de technologie supérieure (ETS). As proud representatives of Québec and one of the few Canadian teams, we operate as an 'équipe polyvalente.' This delightful French phrase denotes a multi-talented team, where a mechanical engineer might lend a hand in electrical matters, or vice versa. Our solar car, therefore, is a testament to cross-disciplinary collaboration and Québécois ingenuity.

Why does your team value participating in the Bridgestone World Solar Challenge?

For the Eclipse team, the Bridgestone World Solar Challenge is far more than a race—it's our ultimate proving ground. It's like facing off against the final boss in an exhilarating game where we put our skills, innovation, and resilience on full display. This prestigious global stage provides us a unique opportunity to showcase not only our passion for renewable energy and sustainable transport but also the engineering prowess of Québec, Canada, and ETS. As we partake in this challenge, we're excited to inspire others to join us in the march towards a solar-powered future.

What is the one thing your team is looking forward to when you visit Australia?

Aside from embracing the challenge and enjoying the Australian wilderness, we're buzzing about the legendary Golden Gaytime. It's as if the scrumptious ice cream bar symbolizes our anticipated journey – delightfully unique, sprinkled with excitement, and wrapped in a golden Aussie adventure. BWSC, we're ready for you!
